EVENT DESCRIPTION

Encampments are week long activities that serve to build a foundation for cadets from which to build their Civil Air Patrol experience. These week long events provide in-depth orientation to Civil Air Patrol and the United States Air Force. First time cadets can expect to be challenged both mentally and physically during a busy and exciting week of hands on leadership development training, aerospace events, and local site activities. Cadets returning as staff will be challenged even further through the leadership roles they will fill and staff duties they will perform. All cadets will have the opportunity to be introduced to the military, learn to overcome challenges, develop time-management skills, enhance their interpersonal skills, and have a great time.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible to attend encampment, cadets must have completed the Curry Achievement and have been promoted to Cadet Airman (C/Amn) prior to application submission. Staff applicants must have earned the Wright Brothers Award (C/SSgt) and have it posted to e-services prior to application submission.

FEE (Cadet & Senior)

Staff and Traditional Payment
The activity fee for first time cadets (students) is $195
Out of wing cadet and senior cadre is $195
FLWG cadet and senior cadre is $97.50 (FLWG cadet programs is subsidizing 50% for all FLWG cadre)

Cadet Encampment Assistance Program
Thanks to Air Force support, CAP has special funding available this year to cover encampment fees, uniforms, and other costs associated with our encampment program, with an emphasis on serving economically disadvantaged cadets.  This is great news and evidence of the Air Force's pride in the accomplishments of CAP cadets and enthusiasm for their future.  If a cadet wants to attend an encampment this year, financial considerations should not be a factor holding them back. For more information on the CEAP please see the National CEAP page. Please note the FLWG staff has no access to a cadets application nor are we able to check the status of an application.

GRADUATION

Graduation Update

All persons 18 or older that are coming to pick up cadets or attend graduation need to be on our list for the security gate.  Please follow this link and add the name of anyone in the vehicle.

The graduation parade will commence at 1100 EST 06 Jan 2018 at the parade ground next to the main entrance. Guests will be directed to the parking area and graduation location upon arrival. Please plan your arrival to Camp Blanding to be no earlier than 1030 EST. Encampment activities will still be taking place and the extra vehicular traffic creates a safety hazard for all the personnel moving on site.

UNIFORM/EQUIPMENT

Use the encampment packing list form to ensure all items are brought to encampment. This form requires cadet and parent signature and must be turned in during in-processing.  Cadets are authorized to wear the new ABU's or the old style BDU's.

How to pack your gear: Encampments require a significant amount of equipment be brought to the activity. The living accommodations, however, do not have wall lockers or other storage systems. Therefore, choose a footlocker, suit case, or plastic tub from which you can easily access equipment. Duffel bags are not authorized because you must empty the contents of the bag entirely to get to something at the bottom – choose something that you can keep your property in at all times but still easily access everything. An example can be found here.

COLD WEATHER GEAR IS ESSENTIAL FOR A SAFE AND ENJOYABLE ENCAMPMENT AND IS NOT AN OPTIONAL PACKING ITEM. CADETS WITHOUT REQUIRED COLD WEATHER GEAR AS DESCRIBED IN THE PACKING LIST WILL BE SENT HOME.

MEALS

Meals will be provided at the encampment. Cadets with special meal needs must include this information on their encampment application as well as the CAP Form 160.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

Full refunds will be available through the designated refund date and may be requested via the online refund request form. Requests for refunds after that date will be based upon the encampments ability to replace the paid for slot. Refund requests may take as long as 60 days after the end of encampment to process. If you request a refund and have received no communication from encampment within 60 days after the end of the activity with information pertaining to the refund, please e-mail cadetprograms@flwg.us to ensure your request was received.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation to and from encampment is the participant's personal responsibility. Units or Groups may, and are encouraged to do so, arrange for common transportation through corporate or privately owned vehicles. Participants should contact their unit commander to inquire if such arrangements are being made.
