The Group 2 Leadership Academy provides a Basic Course and an Advanced Course for squadron cadets in order to promote training and standardization for the Group’s cadet corps. 


Basic Course
This course is designed to teach cadets basic drill, customs and courtesies, the basic principles of followership, the Core Values, and the organization and history of the Civil Air Patrol.
Advanced Course
This course is designed to teach cadets about the use of command voice, instructional techniques, the fundamental concepts of leadership, how to conduct an inspection, and how to motivate cadets.


Basic Course
  • Any cadet airman or NCO in good standing
Advanced Course
  • Have previously attended a GLA or encampment
  • Be a cadet NCO in good standing


  • $30.00 cash, payable at check-in
Senior Members
  • $25.00 cash or check, payable at check-in


Cadet Students
  • Complete the registration form to the right.
  • Deadline for registration is 15 Feb 2019.
  • CAPF 60-80, 160, 161, and 163 must be filled out and brought to the activity.
  • Submit a cover letter and CAP resume to sspangler@flwg.us.
  • Deadline for cadet staff application is 26 Jan 2019.

Members will arrive in BDUs/ABUs at the address specified above, 15 March 2019. Check in for Cadet Participants starts at 2000. Cadet staff will arrive NLT 1830. The following items must be brought: CAP ID, completed CAPF 32,160,161,163, and activity fee. Medications will be held by the cadet and it is their responsibility to take when required.


Cadet Students will be signed out and dismissed at 1300 hours on 17 March 2019.


Transportation to and from such activity is not the responsibility of CAP.  Privately owned vehicles travel to or from such activity is performed strictly at the member’s own risk (reference CAPR 77-1, para 6c and CAPR 52-16, para 8-10) and is not under CAP direction and control. Transportation during the activity will NOT be provided.


No meal will be provided Friday evening, so cadets should eat before arriving. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided Saturday, and breakfast will be provided Sunday. Billeting will be outside in the lawn area surrounding the building. Cadets are to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, and a tent. Tents may be shared so long as each cadet has a comfortable amount of space to sleep. Females and males will be separated and chaperoned appropriately.


See Attachment 1 of the Operations Order for the packing list. Cadets are to pack ONLY what is on the list and will be subject to an equipment check. Items not on the list may be confiscated for the duration of the activity and kept in a secure, locked location. Group 2 Cadet Programs is not responsible for any confiscated property.
