Deputy Chief of Staff - Programs, Florida Wing, CAP
Lt. Col. Valerie Brown is the Deputy Chief of Staff for the Programs Team including Professional Development, Cadet Programs, Drug Demand Reduction and Aerospace Education. We are building a successful future for FLWG when this team produces results. Our prime objective is to fully integrate these departments to provide maximum value developing competent and confident members to serve our missions.
Valerie has served wherever asked in many command and staff positions since her arrival in FLWG in 1996, including as Chief of Staff for several Wing Commanders. In addition, she had several positions on the SER staff, including the IG. She was part of a redevelopment of the SER Region Staff College curriculum in 2004. In addition, Lt. Col. Brown has been honored to be included at the Headquarters level to serve as a member of the joint USAF-CAP Compliance Inspection team during 2003 and 2004 with Colonel William Charles. She currently serves on the Professional Development committee and is member of the Cadet Officer School staff.
Her career began in PAWG at Sq 1001, Phila Int’l airport as a finance officer prior to working in the cadet program. When she transferred to CAWG she began additional duties with Professional Development while assigned to Saddleback Comp Sq. 68. In 1987 after her transfer to TXWG, Valerie worked with the Ellington Comp Sq. and was honored when Ellington was selected as the Sq. of Distinction in 1992.
Valerie is a 1995 graduate of the CAP National Staff College where she met her husband Michael Brown, a now retired special agent with the Florida Dept of Law Enforcement.
