Lt. Col. Valerie Brown is the Deputy Chief of Staff for Programs, and oversees professional development, cadet programs, drug demand reduction and aerospace education.

The program section's prime objective is to fully integrate its departments to provide maximum value developing competent and confident members to serve our missions.

Col. Brown has served in many command and staff positions since her arrival in Florida Wing in 1996, including stints as chief of staff for several wing commanders. In addition, she served in several positions on the Southeast Region staff, including an assignment as the inspector general, and was part of a redevelopment of the Southeast Region Staff College curriculum in 2004.

Col. Brown was a member of the joint USAF-CAP Compliance Inspection team during 2003 and 2004.

She now serves on the professional development committee and is member of the Cadet Officer School staff.

Her career began in Pennsylvania Wing at Squadron 1001 at Philadelphia International Airport, where she was a finance officer and worked in the cadet program. She transferred to California Wing, and was a professional development officer for Saddleback Comp Sq 68. In 1987, after her transfer to Texas Wing, she worked with the Ellington Comp Sq and was honored when the unit was named a Squadron of Distinction in 1992.

She is a 1995 graduate of the CAP National Staff College, where she met her husband, Lt. Col. Michael Brown.
